A church built between 1582 and 1617 in the Li Rosci area, restored in 1884 and revived after war damage in 1943.
The church of the Body of Christ was built between 1582 and 1617 in the area then called Li Rosci. Its presence was so important that the area took the name of Strada del Corpo di Cristo. We like noticing how a sacred building gave its name to an entire neighbourhood.Inside, two inscriptions tell its story: the first recalls the restoration of 1884, when the ruined church was partly rebuilt and adorned with a marble statue of the Madonna of the Rosary; the second recalls the serious damage from the bombing of 16 September 1943 and its subsequent return to its former splendour. We recommend reading them at leisure.
