Church of Santa Croce in Sapri, at the entrance to the town in the Cammarelle area, near the obelisk dedicated to Carlo Pisacane.
Anyone arriving in Sapri comes across the Church of Santa Croce almost straight away, in the Cammarelle area, behind the old observatory and the obelisk commemorating Carlo Pisacane's expedition. It is a modern parish complex, a reference point for the districts at the entrance to the town and for those living away from the historic centre facing the harbour.We like recalling that this area held the remains of a large Roman seaside villa, largely lost with the building of the main road and recent buildings: a sign of how busy this inlet of the gulf already was in antiquity. We suggest combining the visit with a stroll along the seafront, towards the statue of the Spigolatrice (the Gleaner).
