Church of the Spanish Mercedarians on via Chiaia, born from a 16th-century chapel and renovated in the 19th century with frescoes.

In largo Sant'Orsola, along via Chiaia, stands the church of Sant'Orsola, born in the mid-16th century as the chapel of a Spanish nobleman. In 1569 it was given to the Mercedarian fathers, who rebuilt it larger together with the convent. In 1875 the cloister, where the monks' cemetery had been, made way for a theatre. After the 19th-century restorations little remains of the original church, but the frescoes of that period on the nave arches deserve a look while shopping on via Chiaia.
