Fourteenth-century church from which the Borgo Sant'Antonio Abate grew, with a Gothic doorway and 14th-century frescoes.

The church of Sant'Antonio Abate, with its old hospital, is documented as early as 1313 and is the core around which the borgo of the same name grew. Remodelled in the 17th and 18th centuries, it still bears traces of the Gothic building, starting with the fine mid-14th-century doorway.Inside we recommend looking for the 14th-century survivals: the frescoes of the Madonna and Child and the Crucifixion at the start of the nave, and a marble Madonna and Child by a follower of the Bertini brothers. We like to combine a visit with a stroll among the borgo's market stalls.
