Church founded in 1572 for the Madonna of the Rosary after Lepanto, in the Quartieri Spagnoli; Eleonora Pimentel Fonseca married here.

On vico Rosario di Palazzo, at the edge of the Quartieri Spagnoli, this church was founded in 1572 for the Dominicans, when buildings dedicated to the Madonna of the Rosary were multiplying in Naples after the victory of Lepanto. It is a place full of stories: the poet Giulio Cesare Cortese, champion of the Neapolitan language, is said to rest here, as a plaque recalls; Luca Giordano was probably baptised here; and here, in 1778, Eleonora Pimentel Fonseca, future heroine of the Republic of 1799, was married. The present name comes from a decree of 1819.
