Arenella church born of devotion to a painting of Saint Anne found after a storm in 1896.

On via Arenella, in the Arenella, this church grew out of a story of popular devotion. A rag-and-bone man, the "saponaro", bought an old canvas of Saint Anne with the child Mary and gave it to a neighbour, who displayed it in the courtyard of his building. In 1896 a violent storm blew the image away, and it was found by a noblewoman of the district. Around this painting grew the devotion that led to the building of the church dedicated to Saint Anne.
