Fuorigrotta church in whose portico Giacomo Leopardi was buried in 1837; the tomb was later moved to the Parco Vergiliano.

In piazza San Vitale, in Fuorigrotta, stands a church of very ancient origin, documented as early as 985, when the cult of Saint Vitalis reached Naples from the Byzantine area of Ravenna.Giacomo Leopardi, who died in Naples in 1837, was buried here thanks to his friend Antonio Ranieri. In 1897 the tomb was declared a national monument and the façade was rebuilt; in 1939 the poet's remains were moved to the Parco Vergiliano at Piedigrotta, but the memory of the place remains.
