Dominican church founded by the Angevins in 1294, near the port; its cloister now houses a university department.

In the Porto district, a stone's throw from corso Umberto, San Pietro Martire was founded in 1294 by the Angevins and entrusted to the Dominicans. Fires and earthquakes forced it to be reborn several times: in the 15th century in Renaissance forms, in the 17th century with the majolica dome of 1609 and the new doorway. For centuries it was considered the chapel of the University of Naples, and its cloister still houses a humanities department today. A place where faith, history and student life meet.
