Church in Gaiano documented from 1309, with three naves and a façade facing the valley.

In the hamlet of Gaiano, in Fisciano, the Church of San Martino forms the backdrop to Piazza Antonio Negri. A document of 1092 suggests there was a priest, and therefore a church, already then; the "ecclesia S. Martini de Gaiano" is mentioned with certainty from 1309.We are intrigued by the façade, which faces not the square but the road descending towards the valley. The interior has three naves, with the wooden choir above the entrance. We suggest walking around it to take in its whole structure.
