A Republican-era rustic villa discovered in 1961 near Sant'Agnese, with a large cryptoporticus later used for burials.

Beside the church and convent of Sant'Agnese, on Via Gajano, the remains of a Roman villa came to light in 1961, which many locals call the catacombs. It was built in the Republican period and enlarged during the 1st century AD, as a large rustic villa tied to the surrounding countryside. The rooms are arranged around a large quadrangular cryptoporticus about 35 metres per side, open to the west with arches towards the garden. Already in the Early Christian period the ground floor and cryptoporticus were reused as a burial place, which explains the popular nickname. For us it is an intriguing stop for those who love lesser-known archaeology.
