Laurito's parish church on the main square, rebuilt in 1948, with a Carelli organ and 18th-century wooden statues.

On the main square of Laurito, a small village in southern Cilento, the parish church of San Giovanni Battista was rebuilt in 1948 on the site of an older 15th-century building. The interior is sober but holds fine works. We suggest looking at the pipe organ by the Carelli workshop, with Neapolitan-school painted panels, and the wooden statue of the Baptist from 1766. We also like the images of St Philip of Agira, much venerated in the village, and the wooden altarpiece of the Archangel Raphael. An ideal stop before heading down to the nearby Church of San Filippo.
