On piazza Sant'Alfonso de' Liguori, in Marianella, stands a church of medieval origin, already in existence in 1312, as shown by an inscription transcribed in the 16th century during a pastoral visit.The village is the birthplace of Saint Alphonsus Maria de' Liguori, and the church is dedicated to him as well as to Saint John the Baptist. It is a stop for those wanting to learn about the life of the Neapolitan saint, Doctor of the Church and author of "Tu scendi dalle stelle".
