Seventeenth-century church on salita Pontenuovo, founded for orphan girls known as "monacelle", remodelled in Baroque style in 1753.

On salita Pontenuovo, in the San Lorenzo district, the church of San Gioacchino was founded in the second half of the 17th century to take in the orphan girls who wandered the city. The girls wore the habit of the Franciscan Third Order and were called "the monacelle (little nuns) of Pontenuovo".In 1753 the church was renovated in a Baroque key. The façade focuses on the doorway, topped by an 18th-century relief of the titular saint.
