Main church of San Valentino Torio, rebuilt around 1700, holding the Triptych of St James by Andrea Sabatini.

A little apart from the town, at Starza di San Giacomo, stands the most important church of San Valentino Torio. The present building dates from around 1700 and replaced a church of 1511; it has three naves oriented east to west and three entrances facing the town.We suggest looking at the entrance staircase, built between 1804 and 1813 with piperno blocks laid in a peacock-tail pattern. Inside is the Triptych of St James, an oil on panel painted around 1520 by Andrea Sabatini, one of the leading figures of the southern Italian Renaissance: a work that alone is worth the stop.
