Minor basilica in the Arenella, built between 1904 and 1968 where, according to tradition, the first miracle of Saint Januarius's blood took place.

Let's head up to the Arenella, to via San Gennaro ad Antignano: tradition places here the first miracle of the liquefaction of Saint Januarius's blood, during the translation of the saint's body. For centuries there were only small chapels on the site, which Neapolitans called "abbasci'ê ccappelle".The present basilica was begun in 1904 and only completed in 1968; as early as 1905 Pope Pius X raised it to a minor basilica. It is a place dear to the people of the Vomero and Arenella, linked to devotion to the patron saint.
