The great Gothic Dominican church on Piazza San Domenico Maggiore, in the heart of the historic centre.

The church was built between the end of the 13th and the beginning of the 14th century at the behest of Charles II of Anjou. Saint Thomas Aquinas taught in the adjoining convent, and his cell can still be visited today.Inside are frescoed chapels, noble tombs and, in the sacristy, the coffins of the Aragonese rulers. The main entrance is at the back: from the square a staircase leads up to the apse.
