Church on via Medina founded in 1514 next to a hospital, rebuilt in 1595 by the Franciscans; also called San Giuseppe Maggiore.

On via Medina, near piazza Municipio, stands San Diego all'Ospedaletto. It was founded in 1514 by Giovanna Castriota, lady-in-waiting to the queen, and dedicated to Saint Joachim; next to it rose a hospital for impoverished gentlemen, hence the name "Ospedaletto" (little hospital). The Franciscans rebuilt it in 1595, dedicating it to Saint Didacus. Damaged by the earthquake of 1784 and the bombing of 1943, in 1934 it inherited the title of San Giuseppe Maggiore, the church demolished during the redevelopment of the rione Carità.
