Neoclassical Bagnoli church consecrated in 1905, with a portico façade recalling an ancient temple.

On via Amedeo Maiuri, in Bagnoli, the church of Maria Santissima Desolata was born with the district itself: in the second half of the 19th century the draining of the Lake Agnano area made it habitable, and the church was meant to be its symbol.Consecrated in 1905, it has a neoclassical façade with a six-column portico on a high podium: it really does look like an ancient temple, in keeping with the nearby Phlegraean area.
