Seventeenth-century chapel on via Costantinopoli, next to Santa Maria della Sapienza, built for the penances of the religious.

On via Costantinopoli, on the right-hand side of Santa Maria della Sapienza, is the 17th-century chapel of the Scala Santa. It was a space reserved for the penances of the religious. The name recalls the staircase Jesus climbed in Pilate's praetorium. The frescoes are by various artists, including Andrea d'Aste; the works of art have been moved elsewhere for safekeeping.
