The Brancaccio chapel in San Domenico Maggiore, with Pietro Cavallini's fresco cycle of around 1308.

In the church of San Domenico Maggiore, the Brancaccio chapel is also called the chapel "of the frescoes": it is the only one in the church that preserves a painted cycle from the Angevin period, when the complex was built. The frescoes were painted around 1308 by the Roman artist Pietro Cavallini, an illustrious guest of Charles II of Anjou. They are a precious record of 14th-century painting in Naples, to be enjoyed at leisure.
