Small rural chapel on a wooded knoll in Cusano Mutri, at the start of the road to Pietraroja, of ancient Benedictine foundation.

This chapel belongs to the network of rural churches founded by the Benedictines of San Vincenzo al Volturno between the 9th and 10th centuries. It stands in open countryside, on top of a tiny wooded hill at the start of the road climbing towards Pietraroja: modest, but truly picturesque.Today it is almost disused and has a single central altar; on the small door a date can just be made out, perhaps 1835. On the square in front there is a large iron cross commemorating the Passionist mission of 1911. We recommend a stop during a tour of the Matese landscapes.
