An 18th-century chapel in the manor courtyard of the Masseria Luce, now home to a museum of rural life.

On the northern outskirts of Naples stands the Masseria Luce, built in the early 18th century by the nobleman Tommaso Carizzo and arranged around two courtyards: the owners' courtyard and the farmers' one. Today the complex houses a museum-workshop of rural life, a lovely way to rediscover life in the countryside around the city.In the owners' courtyard opens the chapel dedicated to Maria Santissima della Luce. Until a few years ago it held the venerated image of the Madonna, sadly stolen and replaced with a reproduction. We recommend visiting it together with the museum, to grasp the bond between faith and work in the fields.
