A Neo-Gothic hermitage commissioned by Ferdinand I of Bourbon in 1817-19 on the site of the royal pheasantry; now closed and abandoned.

The Capuchin hermitage, also called the retreat of San Clemente, was built between 1817 and 1819 at the wish of Ferdinand I of Bourbon, in the area where the royal pheasantry once stood. Church and convent were built in Neo-Gothic style and even included an apartment reserved for the sovereign. All around stretched gardens and orchards.Until the suppression of 1865 the friars lived in strict enclosure, open to the public only for the feast of the Assumption and that of San Clemente. Since the post-war period the complex has undergone heavy alterations and is now closed; the small monks' cemetery with its little chapel dedicated to Saint Francis is also abandoned. It can only be viewed from outside.
