Baroque chapel in Santa Chiara with the tombs of the Bourbon kings, from Ferdinand I to Francis II; it survived the bombing of 1943.

In the basilica of Santa Chiara, the Bourbon chapel is one of the few 18th-century features to survive the bombing of 1943. It was created in 1742 at the behest of King Charles of Bourbon, as a temporary burial place for the royal family.Temporary it remained for ever: today it holds the tombs of many members of the dynasty, from King Ferdinand I to Francis II, the last King of the Two Sicilies, who was brought back here in 1984.
