As the name suggests, the Sagra delle Sagre ("festival of festivals") brings together the signature products of Irpinia in a single event. It is held in mid-November by the Pro Loco Alta Irpinia in the old town of Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi, one of the main towns of upper Irpinia.
The stalls feature cheeses such as Carmasciano and podolico caciocavallo, cured meats, honey, taralli, wood-fired bread, chestnuts, truffles, mushrooms and olive oil, together with wines from Irpinian cellars. The programme also includes tasting workshops, talks and exhibitions by local craftspeople and artists.
Our tip: combine your visit with the cathedral and its crypt, the Lombard castle and the nearby Goleto Abbey, a medieval gem a few kilometres from town.
