A crescent-shaped islet formed from an ancient volcanic crater, a precious example of Mediterranean nature with traces of prehistoric settlements.

Vivara is a small islet with a typical crescent shape, beside Procida. It is in fact what remains of the western part of an ancient volcanic crater, one of seven in the Procida area, which rose from the sea about seventy thousand years ago. We like looking at it and recognising the outline of the volcano traced by its shores. It is a highly representative place of the Mediterranean island environment, for its geology, vegetation and wildlife. On top of this there is important evidence of prehistoric settlements, which also makes it a site of great archaeological interest. We recommend visiting it respectfully, enjoying the silence and unspoilt nature.
