The villa of Oplontis in Torre Annunziata, attributed to Poppaea, with splendid frescoes.

The great villa of Oplontis, buried in AD 79, is attributed to Poppaea Sabina, wife of Nero. Its walls are among the finest examples of Roman painting, with painted architecture, gardens and still lifes. You can visit the reception rooms, the garden and the large swimming pool. It is part of the UNESCO site with Pompeii and Herculaneum and is much less crowded.
