The Temple of Isis in Pompeii, one of the city's best-preserved sanctuaries, which impressed the young Mozart.

The temple was dedicated to Isis, a goddess of Egyptian origin much venerated in Pompeii. It was rebuilt after the earthquake of AD 62 and is one of the best-preserved sacred buildings in the excavations.Discovered in the 18th century, it became a stop on the Grand Tour and also impressed the young Mozart. The temple's frescoes and furnishings are now displayed in the National Archaeological Museum of Naples.
