The sanctuary of Apollo next to the Forum of Pompeii, with the statues of Apollo and Diana.

The Temple of Apollo is one of the oldest places of worship in Pompeii and stands next to the Forum. The temple rose on a high podium, in the centre of a courtyard surrounded by a portico. In the courtyard you can see copies of the bronze statues of Apollo and Diana as archers: the originals are in the National Archaeological Museum of Naples. In the background, between the columns, Vesuvius stands out.
