A sanctuary opened in 1957 to welcome pilgrims of the Holy Physicians, beside the old Baroque church of 1771.

The cult of the Holy Physicians Cosmas and Damian in Eboli has ancient roots: around the year 1000 a community of Greek origin built a small church dedicated to them here. Destroyed in 1164 and rebuilt in honour of Saint Sebastian, it returned to the centre of devotion only in the 18th century, when in 1771 a small Baroque church was built, still in use today. After the Second World War that little church was no longer enough for the thousands of faithful who arrived on the feast day. So the people of Eboli built the new sanctuary, opened for worship in 1957, right opposite the older building. We like this dialogue between the two churches: we recommend visiting both.
