Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Rosary of Pompeii

The Marian sanctuary founded by Bartolo Longo, in the heart of modern Pompei.
The sanctuary was born from the will of Bartolo Longo, a lawyer from Apulia who brought a painting of Our Lady of the Rosary to Pompei at the end of the 19th century. Work began in 1876 and the new town grew up around the church. Bartolo Longo was proclaimed a saint in 2025.The sanctuary draws millions of pilgrims, especially on 8 May and on the first Sunday of October, when the Supplication is recited. From the bell tower you can see the whole Sarno valley as far as Vesuvius.
