An old bridge in Montella by the Lavandaia waterfall, among water, woods and the remains of an old mill.

Montella is a land of water, and the Ponte della Lavandara, also known as the Ponte della Lavandaia (Washerwoman's Bridge), is a fine example of it. Local sources trace its origin to Roman times, around the 1st century BC. Next to it is the Lavandaia waterfall, also called the Pelata, one of the four waterfalls in the municipal territory. In the 15th century the waterfall was altered to power a mill wanted by the townspeople, which remained in use until the 1950s and is now a ruin. We love this corner because it combines nature and the memory of rural work. We suggest reaching it in comfortable shoes, perhaps on a walk discovering the waters of Montella.
