An 11th-century square tower, a lookout over the Salt Road and later a prison, now restored and open to visitors.

In Piazza del Seggio rises the Lombard Tower, built by the Lombards in the 11th century on a square plan. It was damaged during the war between Charles of Anjou and Peter III of Aragon, at the end of the 13th century, and rebuilt by Guglielmo di Marzano, lord of Novi.Originally it had four levels, three of which have survived; today it has been fully restored and can be visited. We like imagining it as a lookout over the movement of people and goods along the Salt Road, a role it played for a long time before becoming, in more recent times, a prison. We recommend combining it with a walk through the historic centre.
