A massive square keep with a battered base and merlons on top, damaged by war and now visitable among its rebuilt ruins.
In the hamlet of Baia stands a square keep, with walls that widen towards the bottom in a battered base and a crown of merlons on top. It is a compact tower-fortress designed for defence, which still dominates the small village with its stern silhouette.We like the detail of the raised entrance: the door could once be reached only from above, while today you get there via a metal walkway. The bombing of the Second World War hit the castle hard, and what we see is partly the result of reconstruction. We recommend walking around it slowly to appreciate its bulk.
