A convent founded around 1200 at the wish of Caterina Sanseverino, of which part of the cloister and the conventual rooms remain.

The convent of Santa Caterina was built around 1200 by Caterina Sanseverino, a member of one of the most powerful noble families in southern Italy. Damaged by the 1980 earthquake, it is under restoration and currently not accessible: it can be admired from outside, but remains an important piece of Ricigliano's history.Part of the old cloister can still be made out, around which were the friars' dormitories, kitchen and cellar. The adjoining church had a single nave with a central altar. We recommend passing by during a stroll through the village and imagining the daily life of the community that animated these spaces for centuries.
