Church of Santi Filippo e Giacomo in Ospedaletto d'Alpinolo

The mother church of Saints Philip and James is the focal point of Ospedaletto d'Alpinolo. Its origins date back to 1404, but it has been rebuilt several times: after the 1805 earthquake that destroyed the 16th-century building and again after the 1980 earthquake, which brought down the apse area. Today it has three naves.Next to the church we enjoy discovering the two adjoining confraternity chapels: that of the Rosary, with an 18th-century Assumption and a 17th-century walnut choir, and that of the Sacrament, from 1619, with 18th-century canvases. We suggest coming on 3 May, the patronal feast day, when the village at the foot of Montevergine comes alive.
