Castle of Altavilla Silentina
Il castello normanno di Altavilla Silentina, risparmiato da Federico II nel 1246.
Church · Altavilla Silentina (SA)

The church of the Carmine confraternity, built around 1560, with a stone portal and a 17th-century canvas by Vito da Buccino.
The Carmine church in Altavilla Silentina dates from around 1560 and is linked to the confraternity of the same name. You are welcomed by a stone portal topped by a lunette frescoed with an image of the Madonna, a detail we invite you to look at slowly before going in.Inside, two columns support the organ loft, while the niches hold statues of Saint Sebastian and Saint Lucy. On the high altar stands out the Madonna of Mount Carmel surrounded by saints, painted in 1609 by Vito da Buccino: for us it is the most precious piece in this small village church.
