Mother church of Casaletto Spartano, whose consecration plaque of 1177 is the oldest document of the village's history.

The mother church of San Nicola is where the written history of Casaletto Spartano begins, a village of the Gulf of Policastro among woods and waters. At the entrance to the left aisle a small Latin plaque is preserved, recalling the building's consecration and bearing the date 1177.It is considered the oldest evidence that places the village in history. We suggest looking for it during your visit and then going on to explore the municipal territory, rich in nature and smaller villages such as the medieval hamlet of Battaglia.
