A Capuchin convent built between 1580 and 1583 and enlarged in the 18th century, with an adjoining church, friars' cells and a library.

The Capuchin Convent of Santomenna dates from the 16th century: work began around 1580, the first friars moved in two years later and building was completed in 1583. Originally it was a small complex on three levels, with the church beside it. As the village grew, so did the religious community, which by the end of the 17th century numbered about ten friars. The turning point came in 1729, when a local friar became father provincial and the convent was enlarged together with the church, which was enriched with new works. We like imagining its daily life: cellar and woodshed in the basement, refectory and pantries on the ground floor, twenty-six cells and a library on the first floor, and more cells higher up.
