Arena Coastal Tower in Montecorice

This tower was built in 1592 at the mouth of the Arena stream, on the remains of an Aragonese fortification, to complete the chain of coastal towers defending Cilento. It was built by a master craftsman from Cava de' Tirreni. We like its position right on the beach, on a stretch of coast that is still very natural.The tower fits perfectly into the dune environment, with the mastic bushes surrounding it like a natural ornament. It was recently restored, with the new parts resting on the old walls in keeping with the original style. We recommend reaching it with a walk along the shore, perhaps at sunset.
