Roman Mausoleum of Via Polveriera in Nola
- Visit: about 1 h 30 min

Remains of a Roman mausoleum with a cubic base and a cross-shaped burial chamber faced with very fine ivory-coloured stucco.
Near one of the two Torricelle of Nola, the remains of a monumental Roman mausoleum have come to light, well preserved in its lower part and so large that it takes up the full width of the street. It consisted of a cubic base about seven metres per side, on which probably rose a cylindrical crown topped by a dome, now lost. The base is in masonry faced with large limestone slabs. On the north side a ramp led to a small burial chamber with a cross-shaped plan, whose arcaded walls were finished with ivory-coloured stucco, while the cocciopesto floor was covered with red stucco. We recommend combining the visit with the nearby Torricella.
