Roman Mausoleum of the Torricella in Nola
- Visit: about 1 h 30 min

A cylindrical 1st-century AD Roman funerary monument, known since the 16th century as the Torricella, with remains of decoration and frescoes.
Along Via Polveriera you come across a cylindrical Roman funerary monument, resting on a circular base marked by small niches. Since the 16th century the people of Nola have called it the Torricella, because it looks like a little tower. We like how a popular name has accompanied this ancient presence for centuries. The structure is built in limestone opus incertum with a brick facing, and still preserves traces of decoration and frescoes dating from the second half of the 1st century AD. On the same street there is also a second Roman mausoleum: we recommend seeing them together to get an idea of the necropolis of ancient Nola.
