In the village of Sessa Cilento a pleasant surprise awaits us: the Pietro Volpe Contemporary Art Gallery, which began with a donation and has grown to hold about 200 works by Italian and foreign artists. It is the only space in the province of Salerno permanently and exclusively devoted to contemporary art.The exhibition aims to convey the insights and ferment of the art scene in the second half of the 20th century, with names such as Emilio Greco, Pompilio Mandelli and Galliano Mazzon. We like the underlying idea: opening an area rich in traditions to the contemporary and offering young people new inspiration.
