Matese Regional Park
- Visit: about 2 h

Over 33,000 hectares of protected area on the limestone Matese massif, between Monte Miletto and the lakes of Matese and Gallo.
Established by a regional law in 1993, the Matese Regional Park protects more than 33,000 hectares that largely cover the mountain massif of the same name. The highest peaks are limestone: Monte Miletto reaches almost 2,050 metres, followed by Monte Gallinola and Monte Mutria. The park takes its name from Lake Matese, but another important lake is Lake Gallo, while the area is crossed by the Titerno and Tammaro rivers. We like the variety of landscapes among peaks, plateaus and waters. We recommend starting from San Gregorio Matese for scenic hikes along the lake shores.
