Grotto of Matermania in Capri

The Capri cave turned into a nymphaeum by the Romans, along the Arco Naturale path.
The Grotto of Matermania opens on the eastern coast of Capri. In Roman times it was turned into a nymphaeum, with decorated walls and water basins.The name may recall the cult of the Mater Magna, the goddess Cybele. It is reached along the panoramic path that leads down from the Arco Naturale towards Pizzolungo.
