Franciscan convent authorised in 1589, with a cloister frescoed with the life of St Francis and a single-nave church.

On 2 January 1589 Pope Sixtus V authorised the founding of this convent in the San Marco area, between the hamlets of Santa Tecla and Pugliano. Closed in 1811, it was reopened in 1818 thanks to the pleas of the inhabitants and the intervention of the Archbishop of Salerno. We like this story of the community's affection for its convent. The cloister is decorated with fourteen scenes from the life of St Francis, while saints, bishops and popes of the Order are painted on the pillars. The church, with a single nave and dedicated to St Anthony, has a high altar and eight side altars dedicated to various saints. We recommend lingering under the portico to look at the frescoes.
