Small 18th-century chapel inspired by the Holy Stairs in Rome, with a covered staircase of 28 steps.

In the upper part of the village, not far from the church of San Sebastiano, stands this small chapel built on the model of the Holy Stairs (Scala Santa) in Rome. Perhaps pilgrims heading for the Monte Sacro of Novi Velia once passed this way. Next to the entrance, a stone with a Latin inscription invites the traveller to stop and pray.It was probably built as a vow by the Marquis Antonio Cammarano, and a date on the old door read 1726. The building has two openings, an entrance below and an exit above, linked by a covered staircase of 28 steps. We like its devout simplicity: we recommend looking for it as you stroll through the alleys.
