Over Christmas the Teatro Verdi in Salerno stages Turandot by Giacomo Puccini, the composer's last opera, left unfinished at his death and famous for the aria Nessun dorma. Performances are on 21 December, 23 December at 9 pm and 26 December at 6 pm.

Daniel Oren, artistic director of the Salerno theatre, conducts; Plamen Kartaloff directs, and the leading roles are sung by Ewa Plonka, Jorge de León and Vasilisa Berzhanskaya. The production coincides with the Luci d'Artista light festival, when Salerno welcomes visitors from all over Italy.

We suggest booking early, as the theatre is small and seats are limited, and enjoying a stroll among the seafront illuminations after the opera.
