In Franche, a hamlet of Pimonte in the Lattari Mountains, the Valle Lavatoio has hosted a much-loved living nativity for more than thirty years (the 32nd edition was in 2025). The route, about two kilometres long, crosses a natural setting of streams, rocks and old wash-houses.
Along the way you meet shepherds, craftsmen in their workshops, Herod and the Three Kings, until you reach the grotto with Mary, Joseph and the Child. It is run by the volunteer association Solo per Amore, which also handles online bookings.
The 2026/27 calendar has not been published yet: the evenings usually run from the weekend before Christmas to Epiphany. We recommend light hiking shoes and a torch.
