On the night of 31 December Naples welcomes the new year in its most spectacular square: Piazza del Plebiscito, between the Royal Palace and the colonnade of San Francesco di Paola, hosts the big New Year's Eve concert with music and comedy, promoted by the City of Naples as part of its Napoli Città della Musica project. The performers have not yet been announced.
The programme also includes DJ sets on the Via Caracciolo seafront on New Year's Eve and on the afternoon of 1 January, plus an event for young urban talent in the days before.
We suggest arriving early, getting around on foot or by metro, and toasting with your eyes on the bay: the fireworks over the sea are worth the trip.
